Learning about Progressive Web Apps and how traditional Web Applications can be converted to PWAs, I designed a Weather App in React and introduced a Service Worker that deals with cache storage, offline mode, etc. The amazing part about PWAs are how just a solitary code base is needed to run Web Apps on any device, download it as a native application, present offline content and send push notifications.

Type in a city name and retrieve weather information for it if you are connected to the internet. If you are not, instead of receiving an error code, you will be shown an HTML page and receive a response code of 200. PWAs have the capability of being installed as a Native Application using up barely any storage. On a desktop web browser, you should get the option to do this through an icon at the end of the URL bar and on a mobile device, it should read “Do you want to add this to your home screen”.
